East Coast Greenway southern terminus

Image
Here are a couple of photos of the southern terminus of the East Coast Greenway at Key West, FL. If you can read the fine print on the plaque, it is set into a stone quarried from construction of the trail at the northern terminus in Calais, ME. The other photo is of ECG member Mike Kiley and his family biking the trail in Key West several years ago. So, imagine this: you can bike into Plainville center and turn left to bike toward this destination! Pretty neat. Any takers?

East Coast Greenway interim route

Image
We've been at work advocating to "connect the dots" here in Plainville, CT betweeen existing trails north and south. It is a slow process given the issue of active rail alongside and crossing the proposed route. But, we thought it was important to show some progress, so we've decided to identify an interrim route on-road connecting trails in Farmington and Southington. Attached is an image of the interim route sign we hope to begin installing once we have approval from local authroities. We will add to this , a map of the route as it is currently envisioned and a "cue sheet" for this route showing all the twists and turns and distances between them for even better route navigation than may be possible with the map. Hope to see you out on the interim route sometime soon.
